かなり古い歌謡曲の歌詞に、「勝った負けたと騒ぐじゃないよ」（水前寺清子の歌）というのがあります。トランプにとっては、一つ一つのディール（deal）の勝ち負けが重要であり、よほどのことがない限り自我（ego）を通します。多くの日本人の価値観とは正反対とも言えます、強大な権力者ゆえに、日本の政治家はトランプのエゴを尊重し、腫れ物に触るかのような扱いをします。そのような態度をとるほうが自己保身にはよいかも知れないですが、品性は低下し、その政治家だけでなく、日本の威信も低下させます。石破総理は、多くの日本人が「私の大変さを理解し同情してくれるだろう」と思っているのでしょうか？
In the lyrics of a rather old song by Kiyoko Suizenji, there is a line that says, 'Don’t fuss about who won or lost. For Trump, the win or loss of each individual deal is important, and unless insisting on his ego would backfire, he will push it through. This can be seen as the exact opposite of many Japanese values. Because he is a powerful figure, Japanese politicians respect Trump’s ego and handle him as if they are dealing with something delicate. While this approach might be better for self-preservation, it lowers their character and diminishes not only their own but also Japan’s prestige. Does Prime Minister Ishiba believe that many Japanese people will understand and sympathize with his struggles?
