「本日のラッセルの言葉」のなかの一文「にもかかわらず、科学の専制が避けられないとすれば、その専制は科学的なものであるほうがよい。（Nevertheless, if there is to be a tyranny, it is better that it should be scientific.）」について、「科学の専制」そのものがよくない以上「科学の専制は科学的なものであるほうがよい」という主張は間違っている、あるいは少なくとも「不適切な言い方である」と思った人がいるのではないでしょうか？
絶対的な善や絶対的な悪というものがあると考えている人がいますが、ラッセルはそうは考えません。非常によくない悪（極悪）や非常に良い善はあるにしても、絶対的悪や絶対的善などというものはないとラッセルは考えます。特定の宗教を強く信じている人々は、絶対的な悪や善があるとして「絶対に」という言葉をよく使います。しかし、これは独善に通じるものであり、力を有する集団が絶対悪を根絶やしにし、絶対善を実現するためという理由で武力を行使すれば、世界に大きな災難をもたらす可能性が大きくなります。その危険性を歴史が証明しているのではないでしょうか？
Regarding the sentence from today's "Words of Russell"("Nevertheless, if there is to be a tyranny, it is better that it should be scientific"), I wonder if some people might have thought that this statement is mistaken, or at least an inappropriate way of putting it, given that "scientific tyranny" itself is something undesirable.
There are people who believe in the existence of absolute good and absolute evil, but Russell does not share this view. While he acknowledges that there may be extremely bad evils or extremely good goods, he rejects the notion of absolute evil or absolute good. People who strongly adhere to certain religions often invoke the concept of the "absolute" and frequently use expressions such as "absolutely right" or "absolutely wrong." However, such thinking easily leads to dogmatism. When powerful groups use force in the name of eradicating absolute evil or realizing absolute good, it increases the likelihood of bringing about great disasters in the world. Doesn't history offer ample evidence of this danger?
