子供は，言われたことに従えば「善い子」であり，従わなければ「悪い子」である。こんな子が大人になって政治的指導者になると，彼（彼女）は子供部屋で培った考えを保持し続け，（指導者である）自分の命令に従う者は「善い」，無視する者は「悪い」と定義する。その結果，（自分が指導者である）自党は「善良」な者から成り，反対政党は「悪」人から成っている（ということになる）。（また）「善い」政治とは自分たちのグループによる政治（統治）であり、「悪い」政治とは他のグループによる政治（統治）ということになる。
A child is "good" when it obeys orders, and "naughty" when it does not. When it grows up and becomes a political leader, it retains the ideas of the nursery, and defines the "good" as those who obey its orders and the "bad" as those who defy it. Consequently our own political party consists of "good" men, and the opposite party consists of "bad" men. "Good" government is government by our group, "bad" government that by the other group.

政治家もあまり権力を持っていない時にはこのように単純に考える（国民を分別する）人は多くはないでしょうが、権力を持つにつれ、そのように考える者が増えていきます。
「決断と実行」を合言葉にする政治家（指導者）は多く、一度決断すると、国民の不満が大きくなって顕在化しない限り、政策を撤回したり、軌道修正しようとはしません。顕在化するまで気づかないというのは政治家失格のはずですが・・・？
